Resistance and Propulsion

Resistance and Propulsion research serve two major goals:

  • Accurate prediction of the speed/power requirement of a ship and propeller design
  • Design optimization for hull forms and appendages

The conventional way of the solving of these tasks is connected to carrying out of model tests in ship model basin. However last researches in the field of computational fluid dynamics show, that these tasks can be solved also with high accuracy with the help of numerical methods. Test calculations testify to it also.

We offer the high-quality solution of the tasks connected with:

  • Determination of towing characteristics of the ship hull
  • Selection or design of propellers
  • Optimization of interaction of the hull and propellers, appendages
  • Alternative design of hull elements
  • Determination of speed/power requirements

The hydrodynamical analysis can be carried out using the model of the hull developed by our engineers, or given by the Customer in one of universal geometry formats.

Numerical calculations can be executed in conditions of deep water, shallow water or restriction of a waterway, in view of dynamic change of trim (including gliding regimes).
